  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 cup heavy cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; mix until combined. Gradually stir in boiling water until smooth.
  4. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. For the strawberry filling, cook chopped strawberries with sugar and lemon juice over medium heat until juices are released. Stir in cornstarch mixed with water until thickened; cool.
  6. To make ganache, heat heavy cream until boiling and pour over chopped chocolate; let sit before stirring until smooth.
  7. Assemble by layering one cake with strawberry filling and topping with the second layer; pour ganache over the top.
  8. Decorate with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings.
