Ingredients

For the Shrimp
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon cumin
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon lime juice

For the Avocado Crema
1 ripe avocado
½ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ cup cilantro, chopped
Salt, to taste
Water, as needed for consistency

For Assembly
6 small corn or flour tortillas
1 cup red cabbage, shredded
½ cup carrot, shredded
1 small jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)

For Garnish
Fresh cilantro
Lime wedges

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Toss well to coat and let marinate for about 10 minutes.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Prepare the avocado crema by adding the avocado, Greek yogurt (or sour cream), lime juice, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, and salt to a blender or food processor.
  • Blend until smooth, adding a little water as needed to achieve a creamy drizzleable consistency.
  • Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.
  • Assemble the tacos by placing a small handful of shredded red cabbage and carrot onto each tortilla.
  • Add several shrimp on top of the vegetables.
  • Drizzle generously with the avocado crema.
  • Top with sliced jalapeños if using, fresh cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice.
  • Serve immediately while warm.
