  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chilled butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 1/4 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the beaten egg and milk; mix until just combined.
  4. In another bowl, toss together the pitted cherries with sugar and cornflour.
