  • 3 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup unsalted beef stock or broth
  • 1 ounce au jus gravy mix (1 packet)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, thinly sliced


Instructions

  1. Season the steak pieces with kosher salt and black pepper in a large bowl.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Sear half of the seasoned steak until browned on all sides (about 3–4 minutes). Repeat for remaining steak.
  3. Transfer seared steak to a slow cooker. Add sliced onion and garlic; toss to combine.
  4. Pour beef stock over the mixture and sprinkle au jus gravy mix on top.
  5. Place slices of butter evenly across the top of the mixture.
  6. Cover and cook on HIGH for 3–4 hours or LOW for 6–8 hours until tender.
