Description

Cranberry Bars are a vibrant and flavorful treat that perfectly balances the tartness of fresh cranberries with a buttery, crumbly crust. Ideal for holiday gatherings or as a sweet snack any time of year, these bars are not only easy to prepare but also incredibly versatile.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries (or cranberry sauce)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine cranberries, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes until thickened. Let cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly, then mix in the beaten egg.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Press half of the crust mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Spread cooled cranberry filling over it, then sprinkle remaining crust on top.
  4. Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Allow cooling completely before slicing into squares.
