  • 1 cup toffee bits (or crushed toffee candies)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla; mix on medium speed until smooth.
  4. Stir in boiling water; the batter will be thin.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
  7. In a saucepan over low heat, mix caramel sauce and heavy cream until smooth.
  8. Assemble by placing one cake layer on a plate, drizzling half of the caramel over it, adding the second layer, and pouring remaining caramel on top.
  9. Sprinkle with toffee bits and chocolate chips.
