  • 6 hamburger buns, torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef (about 5–7 minutes). Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened (about 3 minutes). Mix in Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine torn hamburger buns with melted butter and sesame seeds. Layer half in a baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the beef mixture over the buns. Add layers of mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, shredded cheese, lettuce, and pickles. Finish with another layer of beef followed by remaining bun pieces.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for about 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
